Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are among the most common of all bacterial infections. Nearly half of all women will be affected by a UTI at least once in their lifetime .one in every 3 women suffering from a UTI will experience a recurrence within one year. UTIs may force some suffers to restrict their activities, leading to absence from work or in some cases hospitalization and catheterization.
70-95% of all uncomplicated urinary infections attributed to uropathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli). An Infections occur when microorganism from the digestive tract, cling to the opening of urethra and begin to multiply. Bacterial adherence to mucosal cells is the initial step in the development of infection.
In recent decades, studies have targeted the prevention of bacterial attachment, focusing on inhibitors targeting the adhesion process. However, UTIs are typically treated with antibiotics, but emerging antimicrobial resistance warrants the need for alternative therapeutic and preventive strategies.
Cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon, Aiton) are known as a potent source of antioxidants and are widely documented for their preventive effect against UTI due to their unique ant adhesion activity against pathogenic bacteria, which is linked to the presence of key phytochemicals: proanthocyanidins (PACs).
CYSTICRAN™ is a patented cranberry extract manufactured using only North American cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon,Aiton) and offers standardized proanthocyanidin (PAC) levels for specific formulation requirements. CYSTICRAN™ delivers the industry’s highest levels of concentrated and bio-active North American cranberry PACs found to help maintain a healthy urinary tract.
only North American cranberry contains unique A-type PACs, seldom found elsewhere in nature, that provide bacterial anti-adhesive properties and help promote urinary tract, gastrointestinal, and oral health.
